Online Safety at Lakota Hub C.I.C. | Stockton-on-Tees

Staying Safe, Connected and Confident Online
At Lakota Hub C.I.C. in Stockton-on-Tees, we believe everyone should feel safe and supported when using digital technology.
The internet offers valuable opportunities for learning, communication, employment and community participation. However, we also recognise the importance of protecting people from online risks.
Our Online Safety Policy helps protect children, young people, adult learners, staff and volunteers while encouraging responsible and positive use of technology.
Â
Creating a Safer Digital Environment
We take a practical approach to online safety across our Alternative Provision, training and community activities.
Our arrangements focus on:
Â
-
Safe internet use: Encouraging responsible behaviour and appropriate supervision.
-
Cyberbullying: Preventing and responding to online harassment, threats and harmful behaviour.
-
Safeguarding: Recognising risks such as grooming, exploitation and inappropriate contact.
-
Privacy and security: Protecting personal information, passwords and digital systems.
-
Social media: Maintaining appropriate communication and professional boundaries.
-
Digital learning: Supporting safe use of online platforms and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Â
Supporting Children and Young People
Online safety is particularly important within our Alternative Provision for children and young people aged 16 and under.
We consider each learner's age, understanding and individual needs when planning digital activities.
We also provide appropriate supervision, accessible guidance and additional support for learners with special educational needs or disabilities.
Our aim is to help young people develop confidence and digital awareness without unnecessarily limiting their learning opportunities.
Â
Reporting Online Safety Concerns
We encourage everyone to speak up if they experience or witness something concerning online.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead oversees online safeguarding concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken.
