Safer Recruitment and SafeguardingÂ
Keeping People Safe from the Start
At Lakota Hub C.I.C. in Stockton-on-Tees, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do.
We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for children, young people and adults who access our services.
Our safer recruitment procedures help us select suitable staff, volunteers and others working with our organisation.
A Fair and Responsible Recruitment Process
We follow fair, consistent and transparent recruitment practices.
Before appointing someone, we carry out checks appropriate to their role. These may include verifying identity, employment history, references, qualifications and the right to work in the UK.
We also consider safeguarding responsibilities throughout the recruitment process.
DBS Checks and Vetting
Where appropriate and legally eligible, we carry out Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
The level of checking depends on the individual's responsibilities and their contact with children or adults at risk.
We also assess the suitability of volunteers, directors, agency staff and contractors where relevant.
Â
Safeguarding Is an Ongoing Responsibility
Our commitment does not end when someone joins Lakota Hub C.I.C.
Staff and volunteers receive appropriate safeguarding information and guidance. We also monitor ongoing suitability and respond to concerns in line with our safeguarding procedures.
By taking these steps, we aim to protect everyone who uses our services and maintain a positive, trusted community environment.
