We’re proud to look back at our All About You project, designed to support people who were long-term unemployed, living with disabilities, or facing additional barriers to gaining and sustaining employment.

The project recognised that getting into work is about much more than simply having a CV. It’s about having the confidence, behaviours, practical skills, knowledge and belief in yourself to take that next step — and to succeed once you get there. 💙

Throughout the programme, participants developed a wide range of behavioural, functional, intellectual and work-related skills, with a strong focus on the qualities employers are looking for.

💼 Employability Skills

Participants explored:

• Understanding workplace ethics and employer expectations

• Planning and identifying personal skills

• Problem solving and decision making

• Teamwork and communication

• Time management and prioritising tasks

• Adaptability and responding to change

• Attention to detail and thoroughness

• Developing enthusiasm, ambition and a positive approach to work

• Setting realistic SMART goals

🎯 BUILDING CONFIDENCE & SELLING YOURSELF

A key part of All About You was helping participants recognise their own strengths and understand how to communicate them to employers.

Through one-to-one coaching, participants worked on:

• Identifying their strengths and transferable skills

• Building confidence and self-belief

• Interview techniques and preparation

• Understanding workplace behaviours

• Learning how to effectively “sell yourself” to an employer

• Setting personal goals and creating an action plan for the future

💻 Digital & Functional Skills

We also supported participants to develop the basic IT skills needed in today's workplace, including accessing and managing online systems and completing everyday digital tasks.

Participants were supported to create quality, targeted CVs that reflected their individual skills, experience and aspirations rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

💰 Basic Finance & Money Management

The programme also looked at practical skills for everyday life, including:• Managing money• Budgeting• Understanding household finances• Making informed financial decisions.

🤝 Customer Service

Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of customer service, including understanding customer expectations, communication, professionalism and how positive interactions can make a difference in the workplace.

🎨 Arts, Crafts & Confidence

Learning wasn't all about employment!

Creative arts and crafts activities provided opportunities to relax, connect with others, develop new skills and build self-esteem and confidence. These activities helped participants recognise that they have abilities, creativity and strengths that can be transferred into other areas of their lives.

🚶‍♀️ Wellbeing & Job Club Support

Our Job Club provision provided practical support to help participants move towards employment, while wellbeing walks encouraged participants to get active, socialise and look after their mental and physical wellbeing.

❤️ The Real Aim of All About You

At the heart of the project was the individual.

We wanted participants to leave not only with improved employability skills, but with a stronger sense of who they are, what they can offer and what they can achieve.

All About You was about removing barriers, recognising potential and helping people take positive steps towards a more independent and fulfilling future.

Because sometimes the biggest barrier to employment isn't ability — it's having someone believe in you enough to help you recognise your own. 🌟

All About You — developing skills, building confidence and creating opportunities. 💙
